OUR STORY
BUILT IN LAS TERRENAS
The Dive Academy was built around safe diving and high-quality training—without the impersonal feel of a large resort operation.
We teach our courses, operate our own boats and lead our own trips. Over the years, our diving has expanded beyond the local reefs to include Jackson Bay and full-day expeditions to Cabo Cabrón National Park.

Meet Paul & Audrey
PAUL
FOUNDER · OWNER
NAUI COURSE DIRECTOR
Originally from Bolton, Paul’s journey to Las Terrenas took him through the RAF, Denmark and Spain, where he built his career in diving and helped establish a dive center.
Many thousands of dives later, he settled on the Samaná Peninsula.
As founder, owner and NAUI Course Director, Paul oversees the technical side of The Dive Academy.
He brings extensive diving experience and exceptional local knowledge to every trip—along with his unmistakably British sense of humour.
AUDREY
OWNER
NAUI INSTRUCTOR TRAINER · SSI ELITE INSTRUCTOR
An IT expert, globe-trotter, sailboat pirate, chef and restaurant owner, Audrey’s route to The Dive Academy was anything but conventional. After training with Paul from beginner through NAUI Divemaster in the Dominican Republic, she continued through the professional levels to become an instructor and instructor trainer.
Today, Audrey is a NAUI Instructor Trainer and SSI Elite Instructor and owner of The Dive Academy. She leads the centre’s training and daily operations and is known to students, interns and captains simply as “The Kraken.”
Audrey and Paul have both received the NAUI Outstanding Service Award in recognition of their contributions to diver education and the diving community.
Behind every trip is a trusted team of instructors, divemasters, captains and crew who share the same standards—
on the boat and underwater.
